The Red Mountain Lions delivered a commanding performance at the Aztec Invitational, capturing the boys team championship with an impressive 173.5 points, finishing more than 60 points ahead of the rest of the field to secure the meet trophy. With strong performances across sprints, hurdles, relays, and field events, the Lions showed both depth and star power throughout the competition.

The Lions dominated the hurdle events, led by Matthew Heitz, who delivered one of the best performances of the meet. Heitz won the 110 meter hurdles in a personal best 14.96 seconds, helping Red Mountain secure 1st, 4th, 7th, and 12th in the event. He followed that performance by winning the 300 meter hurdles in another personal best of 38.09 seconds, as the Lions placed 1st, 5th, and 9th in that race.
Red Mountain also excelled in the relays. The Lions ran a personal best 42.40 seconds to finish 4th in the 4x100 relay. They followed that with a 2nd place finish in the 4x400 relay, clocking another personal best of 3:25.02, and also placed 2nd in the 4x800 relay with a time of 8:04.58, marking yet another team personal best.
In the field events, Joshua Lee led a dominant showing in shot put, winning the event with a throw of 54-09 (16.69m) as the Lions finished 1st, 3rd, 8th, and 10th overall. Red Mountain also placed 4th, 10th, and 15th in discus, and 11th, 12th, 17th, and 22nd in javelin.
In the high jump, Owen Hulihee delivered a personal best jump of 6-02 (1.88m), tying for 1st place while the Lions finished 2nd (T-1st), 5th, and 6th in the event. The Lions also showed depth in the pole vault, placing 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 14th.

The Lions placed 1st, 6th, 8th, and 10th in the event. In the triple jump, Red Mountain finished 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th, adding valuable points to their overall total.
With multiple event victories, several personal best performances, and scoring across nearly every event, the Red Mountain Lions’ depth proved too much for the rest of the field, as they ran away with the Aztec Invitational boys team championship in dominant fashion.
